Owlsong Sampler

A sampler of material issued and coming from the Owlsong label. The best in acoustic classical and jazz featuring soprano Ana María Ruimonte, bassist Alan Lewine and others.

Jazz upright bass player and composer Alan Lewine founded Owlsong Productions in 1982 in Taos, New Mexico, producing a memorial concert honoring Thelonious Monk and his music. In 1986, Owlsong issued its first recording - "Original Jazz" featuring the Alan Lewine Septet in a live 1985 concert of Lewine's compositions. From then through 2001, Owlsong issued several recordings on vinyl, cassette or CD as technologies evolved. Owlsong Productions shuttered then for over a decade as Lewine pursued another career. Now, in 2014, Owlsong returns with new recordings such as Arded, Corazón, Arded by operatic soprano Ana María Ruimonte (then Díaz), the classical/jazz fusion duo Soprano Meets Contrabass (that has evolved into Soprano Meets Bass), and more of Lewine's projects spanning virtually every style that can be called jazz, plus planned rereleases of earlier Owlsong material. This album samples all of that and previews coming attractions for a bargain price.
